Dear Members and Visitors,
If you have been following the court cases between a group of fitness center owners and the State of Michigan’s executive branch (Governor Whitmer’s administration) you are aware the date fitness centers can open in Michigan is a hot topic. Even certified, medically integrated wellness centers, like yours, are unable to open for indoor exercise.
Since May we anticipated opening our wellness centers half a dozen times. Equipment is all spaced 10 feet apart. New cleaning protocols are in place (although we want you to know our historic cleaning supplies met the current COVID-19 cleaning standards). We are ready to guide you in safe physical activity and connecting with others in a healthy way. We simply can’t guess when that will be. This rollercoaster of opening plans has been very hard on our employees. These good people continue to be ready to return and serve you but are weary of being brought back only to be sent home, again.
This morning 5 Healthy Towns Foundation had to make the difficult decision to close the wellness centers until there is an executive order with a definitive opening date. While few programs are currently running (only Next Steps and outdoor exercise) we still agonized over the decision – perhaps because until this decision was definitively made it always felt as if we’d be up and running soon.
If you belong to Next Steps or are registered for one of our outdoor classes, you will be contacted. Until we are open, you will not be billed for your membership.
We hope all of you will continue to take advantage of our online options: chelseawellness.org/
ATI physical therapy in Dexter and SJMC Outpatient Physical Therapy in Chelsea will remain open and accessible through the front doors of both centers, during their business hours.
We look forward to seeing you as soon as it is deemed safe by Governor Whitmer and her team. In the meantime, please take good care of yourselves.
